Life with 2 kids. Jason had both kids cuddled and happy. When Jason moved his arm holding Carter, Carter would grab it and wrap it back around him.
Carter trying on Kylie's Newborn size pants. I was laughing so hard it was hard to take the picture.
Kylie arriving at home with us.
Carter and Kylie getting ready to leave the hospital.
We left Thursday mid day and that evening my parents arrived from Utah.
Carter meeting Kylie for the first time. He kept telling us "Baby crib" and wanted the baby to go back in her crib. After a few visits, he started to ask for "baby home" or "baby car seat".
Kylie’s Birth Story
It all started at my 39 week appointment when I asked if I could have my membranes stripped that day (December 22) and get on the schedule to be induced before the tax year ended. Well the membrane stripping obviously didn’t work, no cramping or bleeding, nothing, so we had our backup plan which was the induction date. We went to the hospital Monday morning December 27th for the exciting day. Our appointment was for 9:15 AM, but they were very busy and didn’t even have a bed to begin with. I just kept thinking, they have to at least get things started so they have to keep me. I didn’t want to leave pregnant. It worked out and they started Pitocen at about 11:30 AM. Several of the nurses kept commenting about how I was already having contractions and probably would have had the baby soon anyways, but I wasn’t that patient. Sidenote: they will let you eat popsicles even though you are instructed to fast. I was really excited since I love popsicles and I was starving.
The Pitocin was streaming into my system and by about 2-3 I was already a 6. It took about 10 hours to get that far with Carter, so I thought we were in for a shorter day. By 4 PM, my cervix had already dilated to an 8. Of course I signed up for the epidural by about the 5-centimeter stage. That is always a wonderful welcomed moment and they have never been any worse than getting blood drawn for me, but hugely successful for relief and relaxation. There we were at 8 centimeters and there we stayed until 8 PM. It wasn’t as boring as it sounds. About 6, we nearly had an emergency c-section and the doctor and nurses were all hovering over the monitors watching Kylie’s heart rate. She kept decelerating to where they shut off the pitocin and gave me a shot to relax my muscles and attempt to shut down contractions. Her heart rate normalized and they let her relax for a while. We then started pitocin again with Dr. Tran stating she had a very low threshold for what she would let Kylie endure. It was so nice that she was watching out so closely for the tiny little one. Turns out, my cervix was done dilating without the pitocin and Kylie was done handling the pitocin contractions, so we headed to the OR (Operating Room).
There were definite red flags when after 2 hours it was still an 8. I could see it coming, but hoped for the slight chance that maybe things would work out. Dr. Tran commented that it was too much for me to just “push her through” and Kylie was too high and face up. Despite the hours pretty much knowing what was coming (i.e. C-section), I was shocked and distressed. It wasn’t the way I had visualized having a baby when I entered the hospital that morning, but it was the only way to get her here safe and obviously the right choice. They had her out in no time and she was officially born 8:52 PM on December 27th, 2010. She had such a hearty scream and tip top APGAR scores (8/10 at 1 minutes and 9/10 at 5 minutes) which was such a welcomed relief to know she was so healthy. It was so fun to finally see her and so nice to have Jason there to bring her over to show me.
We all relocated to the recovery room where they kept injecting more and more drugs into my system. I had to have had slurred speech, but I managed to ask for them to stop pumping me full of narcotics. All the drugs were a doozy mentally to try to stay with it, but they sure covered all the physical trauma. I finally got to “hold” Kylie as in Jason just put her on my chest. I had one limb to work with, my left arm to be exact, and the other 3 were numb.
We have had a great 10 days, some very sore and extremely slow moving. Kylie is just a dream to look at and hold. She hardly cries and had been an awesome eater. Carter has done really well and loves to help with the baby. We are so proud of him and all the things he shares with baby Kylie. Kylie has something very valuable to share with Carter, pink and purple binkies.

LOVE these pictures! AAHHH I want to see her (and you) so bad!!! I'll come as soon as I can - when I can get away and Troy is well (although he shouldn't be contagious, so I should not have any renegade germs tagging along...) Please let me know if (what) you need! Miss you~
She is a beauty!

She is beautiful! I've heard recovery from C-sections is pretty tough. Hang in there.
Wendi! I love you and I hope you're feeling well. Take care of yourself... this sounds very similar to Zoe's birth story and my first C-section... just take it easy, really. :)
