DC with the Jorgensen Family

Jason's family stayed with us the past week. We were able to make it to lots of sights around DC including a tour of the White House and the Capitol building (featured below).

This is the group at the Capitol building.

This is a picture of the top of the dome on the Capitol building. It depicts the rise of George Washington. His face in the painting is 4 feet long which you cannot tell from this picture.

Some of the halls in the Capitol were painted, every square inch with these murals. It was really impressive. It was one man's goal to beautify the Capitol, so he went around painting every square inch of the walls and ceiling.

This is a picture of our bedroom with our new bedspread that I bought on a Columbus Day Sale. It cost 54 dollars for the pillows and comforter.

Number 5 is ALIVE!

Here is baby's hand. I'm sure it's tiny since its head-to-rump length is about 3.4 inches.

You can see its face including eyes, nose, and chin.


I got to have a bonus ultrasound today based on our history of miscarriages. It was so fun! The lady kept commenting, "It won't stop moving." "It is so active." She took a lot a picture and we saw a lot of body parts go by on the screen (remember it was an active child). We saw a lot more than what was captured in the 2 pictures they gave me, but they were all cute!

Gettysburg Post Triathlon

This is a statue of Father Corby, a chaplain in the Civil War. This statue's nickname is "Fair Catch Corby", so I made Jason pretend like he was catching a football.

This is the exact location where Major General Daniel Sickles was shot in his right leg which was amputated. He lived and his bones are currently on display at the National Museum of Health and Medicine. This is Wendi reenacting this soldier.

The Mighty Triathlon

Krista, a friend from my childhood/high school/for life, found this great triathlon for us in Shrewbury, Pennsylvania. We met there that morning to complete. Our goal was truly to just finish and not in an EMS vehicle. That morning it was POURING. You could not imagine how wet it was. When you went outside, your clothes were soaked just going from the car to the building. It was a lighter rain while we were competing, but everything was soggy especially when we were running on grass. My shoes and legs/pants have never felt so water logged. Anyways, we did it. We finished the 500 yard swim, 15.2 mile bike ride (It was all up and down. I used my lowest gear on most hills like you have to use it in Moab. I do not usually us it ever when biking around Logan or Alexandria. It was surprisingly steep and hilly.), and the 2 mile run. I was very careful not to overexert myself because the baby was obviously more important than the race. I ended up finishing 2nd for my age group and Krista was amazing also even though she won't admit it, but she finished a close 6th! So I got the cute trophy. When I asked if I could get it before they were handing them out, the lady asked, "It is the 19 and under group?" We had a great time and THE BEST CHEERING GROUP who woke up at 4:40 am.
