Hooray for Sleep!

We have a 1 time record...Carter slept 6 hours. This exceeds his previous 1 time record of 4 hours about a month ago. My love for him grew a little more yesterday than usual. It was so exciting to sleep consecutive hours, but I must say I did miss him a little. He brings us so much joy. His latest skills are holding onto a set of keys that has a skinny ring and hitting toys hanging overhead. He loves his play mat and dedicates some serious concentration to wacking the toys. Sometimes he smiles at himself with hitting things. We are still "suffering" from new parents syndrome and just melt with anything Carter does. One of our favorite games is to make noises or click/stick out our tongues and Carter takes turns making noises or sticking his tongue out. He just gurgles with joy and seems to be on the verge of a giggle. Again, hearts are melting here.

His little outfit from aunt Melissa and family. Her husband is in the Air Force, so the planes on his shirt are very fitting. I would guess that was an accidental coincidence on her part. At any rate, we love the matching hat.

Saturdays are our mini vacation days. 2 and a half weeks ago we went to the National Cathedral and 1 and a half weeks ago we went to the pier in Old Town Alexandria. Both were very entertaining; however we forgot the camera. Here is a video of a man that plays glasses. He is great and has been playing down on the pier for 22 years. This last Saturday we went to the Theodore Roosevelt Island on the Potomac River. I didn't really know about it until we were reading a book about sightseeing in DC. It had nature trails and a lot of natural looking people, a monument to Teddy Roosevelt who started the National Parks system and preserving nature. Naturally, the island was preserved to the authentic Virginia look, swampy and lots of trees.

All tuckered out from taking in so much beauty.

OHHHH he is so cute! I love how you match in the first picture! Also, I don't think the "new parent" syndrome diminishes when you are "old parents". Everything is just as awesome the next time around!

He's getting SO big! I love it! And I LOVE that vest! Did you buy it part of an outfit from Walmart? I tried to find one for Jack in his size around Easter time but with no luck. I'm JEALOUS! Glad you got more sleep. Sorry to burst your bubble. It doesn't last. Bwahahahahaha

Love it! The sleep...hummm...what's sleep? Lily finally slept 12 hours straight the other night. But, of course, I'm still waking up every 4 hours to check on her. Love it! You have a cute little guy!

I totally think your little Carter is a cutie! Of course everybody thinks theirs is the cutest, but I can safely say yours is the cutest BOY and mine is the cutest GIRL. It will be great to see you when you come out in August. I hope we can hang out a bit. I'm dreaming of going on carefree bike rides again. Ryan and I are doing a 5K on Saturday so that might satiate my need to sweat!

Little Carter is getting so big and alert. Oh the sleep deprivation, I'm having a hard time getting ready for the no sleep feeling. Life is a blissful fog for the first 6 months. You guys are half way there =) We are waiting to begin, maybe next week!
